The making of this.

I’m so thrilled this gif was popular. (omg Bill Rinaldi? Sempai noticed me!) There seemed to be a bit of confusion as to how I did it or whether it was “real.” So sorry if anyone was fooled, I would have made it clearer but I didn’t realize how convincing it was! You know how it is, when you’ve drawn it all you can see are the glaring flaws. x___x

But anyway. These are some progress shots from how I made it. I could go into a more detailed description of the process, but it’d be really long, and boils down to: Step 1: sacrifice goat to Satan. Step 2: draw for many many hours.

(No progress gifs of Tahno because he was pretty simple—just a pan and blink. The interesting part of him for me was the costume design, which is ridiculous and not very animation-friendly, but suits him.)

Done in Photoshop CS5 and Jasc Animation Shop Pro.

Did some digging through my art folder and found this old piece. It was part of some larger project, which is why I never posted it, but I kinda doubt it’s getting finished now, so enjoy Tahno with his eyeliner running.

I think a big part of the reason I’m so attached to the idea of Tahno joining Team Avatar (or would that be Team Uhvatar?) is because I really feel that the dynamic between Tahno and Korra would be highly reminiscent of the dynamic between Grantaire and Enjolras.

Though he’s a hulking Adonis, I don’t imagine Korrak is all that tall. Maybe around 5’7”. Lady!Tahno still has a few inches on him, and uses them to sneer downward.

Come on, if The Hobbit has taught us anything, it’s that short butch dudes are in, right?

I had the idea that kinda like how in canon they both have spiky hair, but Bolin’s spikes in the back and Mako’s spikes in the front, the Rule 63 versions would both have bobs, one curling inward, the other curling outward.
